CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> COUNTY OF ALAMEDA <br /> STATE OF CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> 67-150 <br /> I~£SOLLITION NO. <br /> <br /> ENCOURAGiN~ :THE ESTABLISHI~NT OF A <br /> REGIONAL AUTO SHOPPING CENTER IN <br /> TH~ CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is the expressed policy of the City Council of <br />the City of Pleasanton to encourage the orderly growth and <br />expansion of commerce within the City so as to offer the greatest <br />publlc good to the ¢iclzems of Pleasanton and its surrounding <br />trade area, as well aS protect and enhance property values and <br />living conditions of the property owners and residents of the <br />City through a harmonious use of land; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the location and development of a "complex" grouping <br />of automobile dealers will serve to fumctionalize the automotive <br />sec~ of the City's economy to the dealers' own benefit while <br />relieving the City of pressures to allow such uses to string out <br />along the City's major thoroughfares in haphazard and unsightly <br />fashion; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton is located at the approximate <br />geographic center of the ~dor-Livermore Valley trade area and <br />population, and all projections of population on both short and <br />long term bases indicate substantial increases will take place in <br />the Amador Valley section of Aiameda County in the Pleasanton area <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, existing and future freeway and major thoroughfare <br />patterns in Pleasanton provide needed visibility and access-egress <br />to the automobile dealers expanding their facilities and to their <br />customers; <br /> <br /> · NOW~ THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the <br />Czty of Pleasanton supports and encourages the deyelo?~..ent within <br />Pleas~t~ a~ii;~-~i°nal auto center zn keeping wxth Czty planning <br />and development standards; and <br /> <br /> ~.IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be <br />directed to the City Planning Commission and the various automobil~ <br />manufacturers encouraging their support of new car dealers desitin <br />to locate in said regional auto center with modern and efficient <br />dealership facilities to serve the long-range needs of the entire <br />Amador-Livermore Valley trade area from one centralized point in <br />Pleasanton. <br /> <br />~TED: September 5, 1967. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />~~DWARD, City Clerk <br /> <br />'WARREN R.
