CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> COUNTY OF ALAMEDA <br /> STATE OF CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />7"' <br /> <br /> URGING LEGISLATION FOR STB/)NG CONTROLS <br /> OVER AIR POLLUT~ BY AUTOMOBILES <br /> <br /> W~EP, EAS the first season of continuous oxident measurements <br />have shown the Livermore-Amador Valley to have a higher incidence <br />of adverse level days than any other measuring location within <br />the Bay Area Air Pollution Control District (27 days in the period <br />May through September, 1967), and <br /> <br /> W~E~EAS the automobile is responsible for about two-thirds of <br />the air pollution problem within the Bay Area Air Pollution Control <br />District, and <br /> <br /> W~EREAS the percentage contribution of the automobile is <br />probably higher within the Livermore-Amador Valley because about <br />half of the total gasoline burned daily within this valley comes <br />from transient traffic on two major through highways, and <br /> <br /> WME~AS the average daily traffic load (transient and local) <br />is expected to increase ten-fold by 1990, and <br /> <br /> WMF.~EAS the sheltered, sunny nature of the Livermore-Amador <br />Valley makes it a potentially severe smog area; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS FOLLOW~: <br /> <br /> 1.
