de Rendition of general consultation and advice to First Party, its officers, agents, or employees with respect to the planning, pre- paration and handling of all engineering phases of'the aforesaid proceedings; Attendance at such conferences and public meetings with First Party as may be reasonably necessary to perform this contract of employment. 3. Second Party's compensation shall be as follows: .a, 6.5% of the construction cost (including contingencies) for completion of the plans and specifications, payable at the time bids are received, but the amount subject to adjustment until completion of construction. 3.0% of the construction cost for construction staking, and. job coordination, payable upon completion of construction (not including inspection). 1,.5%'of the construction cost for the assessment proceedings required of the engineer, payable at the time that the assessments are confirmed. $5,000 lump sum for the necessary soils tests and soils consultant work (to be sub-contracted), payable upon receipt of bids. The above compensation does not include any services in connection with condemnatiofi proceedings or other litigation. In the event said proceedings are not carried through to conclusion, or shall be abandoned, then Second Party shall receive a reasonable compensation.
