CITY OF PLEASANTON
COUNTY OF ALAMEDA
STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLLrrlON NO. 69-1

RESOLUTION REQUESTING INITIATION OF NEW LEGISLATION TO REVISE
OR AMEND EXISTING INEQUITIES IN THE LAWS OF THE STATE OF CALI-
FORNIA PERTAINING TO ASSESSING AND TAXING OF REAL PROPERTY.

WHEREAS:

WHEREAS:

WHEREAS:

WHEREAS:

NOW,

DATED: January 6, 1969

A~ McCARTY, City IClerk
APPROVED AS TO FORM

WILLIAM A. HIRST, City Attorney

On November 5, 1968, the voters of the State of Califor-
nia expressed their opposition to Proposition No. 9,
Watson Amendment on real proper~y tax relief.

By so doing, the voters have indicated that the State
Legislature is the proper agency to initiate legislation
which will revise our archaic real property tax laws and
procedures of assessing in the State of California, in a
reasonable and equitable manner;

For the past number of years, the real property taxpayer
has been promised relief in the field of property taxatio
Proposition No. 1-A was only pacifying legislation which
would counteract Proposition No. 9, and in fact Proposi-
tion No. 1-A would not have been on the ballot if it wer~

not for the Initiative Amendment, Proposition No. 9.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT:

1. The State Representatives of the City of Pleasanton
initiate new legislation which would revise or amend as
necessary the existing inequities in the laws of the
State of California pertaining to assessing and taxing
of real property.

2. That certified copies of this resolution be forwarded to
the City's representatives in California Legislature.

BERNARD T. GERTON, Mayor
