CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> COUNTY OF ALAMEDA <br /> STATE OF CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION <br /> <br />ENDORSING REQUEST OF THEPHYSICALLY HANDICAPPED FOR <br />MODIFICATION OF 0AKLAND-A~_A~E~DA COUNTY COLISEUM COMPLEX <br /> <br /> WHEREAS: For many years, individuals and organizations interested <br /> <br /> in the welfare of the physically handicapped have worked <br /> toward the elimination of barriers which militate agains <br /> attempts of the handicapped to participate lin the full <br /> range of human activitie~ and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS: In 1968, the Congress of the United States and the Legis <br /> lature of the State of California enacted legislation <br /> requiring that access be provided the handicapped to <br /> public facilities thereafter constructed; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS: The right to use and fully enjoy public recreational <br /> facilities is important to all elements of society and <br /> is particularly so t~ the physically handicapped; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS~ <br /> <br /> That the City Council of the City of Pleasanton hereby <br /> supports and endorses the attempts of the physically <br /> handicapped to obtain physical modifications within the <br /> Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Complex which will permi <br /> them the same full use and enjoyment of those facilities <br /> as is available to others; and be it further <br /> <br /> RESOLVED, that the Board of Directors and management of Oakland- <br /> Alameda County Coliseum Complex are urged to take all <br /> steps necessary to fully accommodate the physically <br /> handicapped within those facilities. <br /> <br />DATED: July 7, 1969 ~-~~A~- -. f <br />ATTEST: BERNARD T.
