CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> COUNTY OF ALAMEDA <br /> STATE OF CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 70-144- <br />PETITIONING THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF BAY AREA RAPID TRANSIT <br />DISTRICT TO AUTHORIZE FUNDS TO STUDY PROSPECTIVE RAPID TRANSI' <br />RAIL ALIGNMENTS AND FUTURE PUBLIC STATION LOCATIONS AS AN <br />INTEGRAL PART OF THE LIVERMORE-AMADOR VALLEY TRANSPORTATION <br />NEEDS PROJECT. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, A consultant has been selected to conduct a bua feeder <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />line transit survey for the Livermore-Amador Valley; and <br />the project's funding has been accomplished through the <br />collective participation of the valley's concerned govern <br />mental agencies together with the anticipated participa- <br />tion of the Federal Government; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Bay Area Rapid Transit District staff and the con- <br /> <br />sultant are of the opinion that the delineation of a futu <br /> <br />rapid transit route and siting of stations along the <br /> <br />route are outside the scope of the authorized study and <br /> <br />that careful engineering and planning analysis should be <br /> <br />conducted on the subject rather than giving it only a <br /> <br />cursory examination in the present project; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, future population estimates for the Livermore-Amador <br /> <br />Valley together with current state public works improve- <br />ments call for immediate and qualified planning for the <br /> <br />advent of rapid transit rail lines to our area; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the inclusion of future rapid transit routes and stations <br /> in the scope of the Valley's Transportation Needs Study <br /> <br /> will undoubtedly relieve public and private agencies <br /> from <br /> <br /> making substantial expenditures in the future for the <br /> <br />removal or relocation of structures and improvements that~ <br /> <br />may be placed in areas which eventually may be necessary <br /> <br />for rapid transit routing; and <br /> <br /> <br />
