CITY OF PLEASANTON COUNTY OF ALAMEDA STATE OF CALIFORNIA RESOLUTION NO. 70-144- PETITIONING THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF BAY AREA RAPID TRANSIT DISTRICT TO AUTHORIZE FUNDS TO STUDY PROSPECTIVE RAPID TRANSI' RAIL ALIGNMENTS AND FUTURE PUBLIC STATION LOCATIONS AS AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE LIVERMORE-AMADOR VALLEY TRANSPORTATION NEEDS PROJECT. WHEREAS, A consultant has been selected to conduct a bua feeder WHEREAS, line transit survey for the Livermore-Amador Valley; and the project's funding has been accomplished through the collective participation of the valley's concerned govern mental agencies together with the anticipated participa- tion of the Federal Government; and WHEREAS, the Bay Area Rapid Transit District staff and the con- sultant are of the opinion that the delineation of a futu rapid transit route and siting of stations along the route are outside the scope of the authorized study and that careful engineering and planning analysis should be conducted on the subject rather than giving it only a cursory examination in the present project; and WHEREAS, future population estimates for the Livermore-Amador Valley together with current state public works improve- ments call for immediate and qualified planning for the advent of rapid transit rail lines to our area; and WHEREAS, the inclusion of future rapid transit routes and stations in the scope of the Valley's Transportation Needs Study will undoubtedly relieve public and private agencies from making substantial expenditures in the future for the removal or relocation of structures and improvements that~ may be placed in areas which eventually may be necessary for rapid transit routing; and
