CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> COUNTY OF ALAMEDA <br /> STATE OF CALIFORNIA <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 71-22 <br /> <br /> RE: ESTABLISHMENT OF POLICY WITH RESPECT TO STREET <br /> LIGHTING IN PRIVATE STREETS <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the advent of so-called "cluster'~ housing has given rise <br /> to requests for priYate streets, utility lines, etc., <br /> which said requests require consideration by the City <br /> of Pleasanton; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Engineer has submitted to the Planning <br /> Commission a memorandum suggest±rig several alternative <br /> solutions to the problem created by private streets and <br /> utilities and attaching thereto reports which had been <br /> prepared by other public agencies in attempting to deal <br /> <br />~ith this problem; and <br />WHEREAS, the Planning Commission at its <br /> <br /> considered problems related to <br /> <br />meeting January 26, 1971 <br />the maintenance of <br /> <br /> street lights in private streets and concluded and <br /> recommended to the City Council that the policy for <br /> street lighting in private streets be identical to that <br /> in public streets, namely, that the developer pay for <br /> installation and pre-paid maintenance costs and that the <br /> City pay for the power used each month. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> 1. That the recommendation of the Planning Commission with <br /> respect to the policy regarding street lights in private <br /> streets be adopted as follows: <br /> That the policy regarding street lighting in <br /> private streets be identical to that for street- <br /> lighting in public streets, namely, that the <br /> developer and utility pay for the cost of instal- <br /> ation thereof including pre-paid maintenance cost <br /> <br /> <br />
