CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br />RESOLUTION NO. 01-006 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION COMMITTING TO A REDUCTION IN <br />ELECTRICAL USAGE <br /> <br />WHEREAS, California faces unprecedented energy challenges and severe electricity supply <br /> shortages; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the importance of immediate energy conservation efforts cannot be overstated; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Governor Gray Davis has asked all Californians to reduce electricity use by seven <br /> percent (7%; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />to demonstrate California's commitment to conserve electricity, the Governor has <br />directed state agencies to reduce electricity use in state facilities by five percent <br />(5%) by January 16th, and has asked cities to do the same; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton has already implemented operational changes to conserve <br /> energy and will develop projects to further this endeavor. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: <br />Section 2: <br /> <br />The City of Pleasanton is committed to reducing its ongoing electricity use by <br />seven percem (7%). <br /> <br />The City of Pleasanton urges its residems and businesses to also reduce ongoing <br />electricity use by seven percent (7%). <br /> <br />Section 3: This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br /> I HEREBY CERTIFY THAT THE FOREGOING WAS DULY AND <br />REGULARLY ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON, AT <br />A MEET1NG HELD ON JANUARY 23, 2001 BY THE FOLLOWING VOTE: <br /> <br /> <br />
