ClT~ OF PLEASANT01~ <br />COUI~YOFALA!!~A <br />STATE OF CALIrORI~IA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION No. 73-27 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION REGARDING PHASE OUT OF SACEOA <br /> <br /> WH~FAS, President Nixon has clearly indicated his intent to phase out the <br /> National Programs provided by the Office of Economic Opportunity, <br /> (OEO), and <br /> <br />WH~3AS, proSre ~unded through this source in Southern Alameda County are <br /> now administered by the Southern Alameda County Economic Opportunity <br /> Association (SACBOA), and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Pleasanton has previously adopted a <br /> position paper regardinS the importance of the continuance of these <br /> proSrams to low income residents of this area, and <br /> <br />WB~EAS, with the intent of the President clearly expressed, recent efforts <br /> of the State Office of Economic Opportunity to effectuate a chan~e <br /> in the orsanizational structure for the provision of these services <br /> is now apparently moot, <br /> <br />NOW, TH~EFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of <br /> Pleasantou, requests the Governor to take all steps possible to <br /> insure that SACEOA continue to receive OEO funds until such time <br /> as OEO has been phased out, and more specifically: <br /> <br /> 1. That the State Office of Economic Opportunity release the <br /> $190,000.00 which has been approvnd by the National Office of <br /> konomic Opportunity for the cuntinuinS operation of SACEOA <br /> <br /> 2. That a supplesmntaI grant in whatever manner deamed appropriate <br /> <br /> be granted to SACEOA for its logical and orderly phase out, and <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Plessenton <br /> requests that the $140,000.00 grant for the Co~unity Action Team <br /> Program, currently betn~ administered by the seven (7) South Cmmty <br /> cities, be made directly to the City of Fr~a~nt, which is the <br /> administerin~ agency in this regard, and <br /> <br /> <br />
