CITY OF PLEASANTON COUNTY OF AEA STATE OF CALIFORNIA RESOLUTION NO. 73-129 RESOLUTION OF INTENTION TO APPROVE AN AMENDMENT TO CONTRACT BETWEEN THE BOARD OF ADMINISTRATION OF THE PUBLIC EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT SYSTEM AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON WHEREAS, WHEREAS, WHEREAS, WHEREAS, the Public Employees' Retirement Law permits the partici- pation of public agencies and their employees in the Public Employees' Retirement System by the execution of a contract and sets forth the procedure by which said public agencies may elect to subject themselves and their em- ployees to amendments to said law; and one of the steps in the procedure to amend this contract is the adoption by the legislative body of the public agency of a resolution giving notice of its intention to approve an amendment to sai~ contract, which resolution shall contain a summary of the changes proposed in said contract; and the following is a statement of the proposed change: Contracting agencies may amend their contracts under the provisions of SB 37, Chapter 91, Statutes of 1973, to re- define the definition of local policemen and county peace officers to permit all persons assigned to identification and communication duties in the police department or a sheriff's office who are not now local safety members and who were in such employment on August 4, 1972, to elect Safety membership on or before September 28, 1973. the cost of such change for the public agency with both miscellaneous and safety categories of membership can be estimated by applying the difference between the public agency's contribution rate for its safety members and its~ contribution rate for its miscellaneous members to the covered payroll of the members affected by this amendment.
