CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> COUNTY OF ALAMEDA <br /> STATE OF CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 73-166 <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION COMMENDING EARL WARREN, RETIRED CHIEF <br /> JUSTICE OF THE UNITED STATES <br /> <br />W~=REAS, Earl Warren was educated in the legal profession and <br /> practiced law in the San Francisco-Oakland area~ <br /> <br />WBEREAS, he has served the citizens of the State of California as <br /> <br /> a public attorney for twenty-four years~ and <br /> <br />WH=R~AS, he served as Governor of the State of California for some <br /> ten years and subsequently was appointed as Chief <br /> Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States on <br /> October 5, 1953 and ~erformed his duties as Chief Justice <br /> well and ably until his recent retirement on June 20, <br /> 1969~ and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, during his entire career as an attorney he has been an <br /> asset to the legal profession and to the establishment of <br /> Justice not only in the United States but throughout the <br /> world~ and <br /> <br />W~EREAS, on November 6, 1973, Earl Warren will be honored at a <br /> dinner sponsored by the World Peace Through Law Committee <br /> of the Alameda County Bar Association~ <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF TiLE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES <br /> RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS= <br /> <br /> 1. Earl Warren is commended by the City Council for the <br /> many achievements and benefits which he has rendered not <br /> only to his family but also to all citizens of the United <br /> States and particularly the citizens of the State of <br /> California. <br /> <br /> 2. The City Clerk of the City of Pleasanton is hereby <br /> ~fr~ted to submit a ~opy of this resolution to former <br /> <br /> <br />
