The City staff is authorized to expend a sum in an <br /> amount not to exceed $100,000 to replace the media in the <br /> trickling filter and to construct a new digester at the <br /> Sunol plant, said construction to take place without the <br /> necessity of obtaining public bids, as authorized by <br /> Government Code S37906, due to the immediate danger to the <br /> public health, safety and welfare of the citizens of the <br /> City of Pleasanton resulting from the failure of the <br /> existing digester. The improvements to be made shall be <br /> inline with the suggestions contained in the memorandum <br /> from the Assistant City Manager/Director of Public Works <br /> <br /> dated January 4, 1974 and incorporated herein by reference. <br /> <br />Section 2. City staff is directed to investigate the alternative <br /> of diverting approximately 500,000 gallons of effluent <br /> generated in the Pleasanton Valley area to the Valley <br /> Community Services District plant for treatment and sub- <br /> sequent pumping of an equivalent amount of water from the <br /> Arroyo Mocho area or establishing a ponding system on <br /> property presently used by the City for the sprinkling <br /> of its effluent. <br /> <br />Section 3. The $100,000 necessary to make the improvements set <br /> forth in Section 1 above are to be taken from the sewer <br /> l~aase-eut fun~ een~aine~ in the 197~74 bu~elet for ~ <br /> City of Pleasanton. <br /> <br />Section 4.
