CITY OF PLEASANTON COUNTYOF ALAMEDA STATE OF CALIFORNIA RESOLUTION NO. 74-3 APPROVING REQUEST FROM MURRAY SCHOOL DISTRICT TO CONSOLIDATE ITS SCHOOL BOARD ELECTION WITH THE CITY ELECTION TO BE HELD ON MARCH 5, 1974 WHEREAS, the legislature has recently passed Senate Bill 230 (Statutes 1973, Biddle), the intent of which is to reduce the number of special elections and thereby decrease election expenses to local entities as well as to encour- age increased voter turnout; and WHEREAS, this legislation makes certain amendments to the Educa- tion Code allowing elementary school districts to consoli- date a school district election with a City election to be held on the same dates; and WHEREAS, a. portion of the Murray School District is located within the City of Pleasanton and an election in said school district is necessary due to the resignation of one of the school board members; and WHEREAS, the City has received a request from ~r. Donald Williams, Superintendent of Murray School District, requesting con- .~'~ with the City's election and advising the City that formal action by the Murray School District board regarding this request will not be possible until the~'~ next meeting of their board on January 21, 1974; and WHEREAS, Dr. Willi~ms has assured the City that his board is interested in consolidation with the City's election and will pass the necessary resolution requesting the same at the above board meeting. NOW, THBHEFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THB: CITY OF PLEA~AMTOM ~ES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The request by the Murray School District as set forth in the December 24, 1973 letter from its Superintendent, Dr. Donald J.
