CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br />RESOLUTION NO. 00-144 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING THE RECOMMENDATIONS <br />FOR USE OF THE LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT BLOCK <br />GRANT <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act authorizes the Director of the <br />Bureau of Justice Assistance to make funds available to units of local govemment <br />under the Local Law Enforcement Block Grant Program for the purposes of <br />reducing crime and improving public safety; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />an advisory committee was formed consisting of representatives from the local <br />court system, the local school system, the local prosecutor's office, a local <br />nonprofit group, and the local law enforcement agency; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Bureau of Justice requires a ten percent matching fund for the program; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />at its meeting of December 5, 2000, the City Council received a report from the <br />Chief of Police (SR 00:324) regarding the recommended uses of the Local Law <br />Enforcement Block Grant. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: Approves the following uses for the Local Law Enforcement Block Grant: <br /> <br />Automotive Safety Belt Training Station <br />Traffic Control Signs <br />PC the Patrol Car <br />School Safety Equipment - Two-way radios <br /> <br />Section 2: <br /> <br />Approves the allocation of $1,448, representing a 10% matching fund and <br />establishment of an interest bearing Trust Fund into which the Local Law <br />Enforcement Block Grant and Match Funds are deposited. <br /> <br />Section 3: This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br /> <br />
