CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA RESOLUTION NO. 00-119 RESOLUTION APPROVING AN INTERIM PROCESS FOR THE APPLICATION OF THE STATE HISTORIC BUILDING CODE TO QUALIFIED STRUCTURES IN DOWNTOWN WHEREAS, the City Council has set the preparation of an historic preservation ordinance as a highest priority project; and WHEREAS, the Historic Preservation Subcommittee of the Downtown Specific Plan Committee has proposed the adoption of an historic preservation ordinance; and WHEREAS, since the development of such an ordinance will take 6-12 months, in the interim period it is advisable to have a process by which the State Historic Building Code can be applied on a case-by-case basis to qualified structures by the Director of Building Inspection. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: The Director of Building Inspection shall have the authority to apply the provisions of the State Historic Building Code to qualified structures which meet all of the lbllow[ng critcria: 2. 3. 4. The streetare shall be at least fiery years old. The structure shall be located in the area being studied as part of the Downtown Specific Plan. The structure has historical, architectural, or cultural importance as determined by the Director of Building Inspection. The plan incorporates alternative methods for achieving life, safety, and access requirements as determined by the Director of Building Inspection. Appeals of any decision by the Director of Building Inspection shall be made to the City Manager, and subsequent appeals to the City Council. This authority slmll remain in effect until the City Council makes a final decision on an historic preservation ordinance for the Downtown.
