CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br />RESOLUTION NO. 00-119 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING AN INTERIM PROCESS FOR <br />THE APPLICATION OF THE STATE HISTORIC BUILDING <br />CODE TO QUALIFIED STRUCTURES IN DOWNTOWN <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council has set the preparation of an historic preservation ordinance as a <br /> highest priority project; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Historic Preservation Subcommittee of the Downtown Specific Plan <br /> Committee has proposed the adoption of an historic preservation ordinance; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />since the development of such an ordinance will take 6-12 months, in the interim <br />period it is advisable to have a process by which the State Historic Building Code <br />can be applied on a case-by-case basis to qualified structures by the Director of <br />Building Inspection. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: <br /> <br />The Director of Building Inspection shall have the authority to apply the <br />provisions of the State Historic Building Code to qualified structures which meet <br />all of the lbllow[ng critcria: <br /> <br />2. <br /> <br />3. <br /> <br />4. <br /> <br />The streetare shall be at least fiery years old. <br />The structure shall be located in the area being studied as part of the <br />Downtown Specific Plan. <br />The structure has historical, architectural, or cultural importance as <br />determined by the Director of Building Inspection. <br />The plan incorporates alternative methods for achieving life, safety, and <br />access requirements as determined by the Director of Building Inspection. <br /> <br />Appeals of any decision by the Director of Building Inspection shall be made to <br />the City Manager, and subsequent appeals to the City Council. <br /> <br />This authority slmll remain in effect until the City Council makes a final decision <br />on an historic preservation ordinance for the Downtown. <br /> <br /> <br />
