CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br />RESOLUTION NO. 00-074 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION RENAMING WAYSIDE PARK TO "LIONS <br />WAYSIDE PARK" <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />in June 1964, the Pleasanton Lions Club was instrumental in convincing the Union <br />Pacific Railroad to allow a portion of its tight-of-way to be designated as a <br />cornmtmity park; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, subsequently the City purchased the land from Union Pacific, naming the site <br /> Wayside Park; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />to recognize its role in securing the park land for the benefit of Pleasanton <br />residents, the Lions Club requested that the park be renan~ed "Lions Wayside <br />Park"; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a public heating was held before the Park and Recreation Commission on April 13, <br /> 2000 and the Co~ranission ageed with the request; <br /> <br />NOW. THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: Wayside Park is hereby renamed "Lions Wayside Park." <br /> <br />Section 2: This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br /> I IIEREBY CERTIFY TIIAT THE FOREGOING WAS DULY AND <br />REGULARLY ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON, AT <br />A MEETING HELD ON JUNE 20, 2000 BY THE FOLLOWING VOTE: <br /> <br /> <br />
