CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br />ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 94-81 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING CERTAIN POLICIES FOR <br />THE NOVEMBER 8, 1994 MUNICIPAL ELECTION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Section 10012 of the Elections Code authorizes the City Council to establish <br /> certain charges for handling candidate election materials; and <br /> <br />the City Council, at its meeting of july 5, 1994, considered the options available <br />under the above-mentioned setion pertaining to the length of the candidate's <br />statement, billing candidates the pro rata cost ofprinling and mailing to voters the <br />candidates' statements and setting rules and regulations for mailing additional <br />materials; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, prior to the November 8, I994 election, the City Council must establish a <br /> procedure to resolve tie votes should a fie vote occur; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Clerk has presented the two options available to address this issue; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RE,SOLVES <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section I: <br /> <br />Authorizes the City Clerk to request consolidation of the Pleasanton municipal <br />election with the statewide general election on November 8, 1994. <br /> <br />Section 2: <br /> <br />Candidates will be charged a pro rata mount for the cost of printing and mailing <br />theft Statement of Qualifications. <br /> <br />Section 3: The candidate's Statement of Qualifications shall not exceed 200 words. <br /> <br />Section 4: <br /> <br />No materials other than the voter's pampMet and sample ballot shall be <br />transmitted by the City Clerk to the voters; if a candidate wishes to send <br />additional materials to the votes, it will have to be at the candidate's expense or <br />by persons other than the CBy. <br /> <br />Section 5: <br /> <br />Council hereby orders a special run-off election in ease of a tie vote at the <br />November 8, 1994 election, as follows: <br /> <br />The special election must be held on a Tuesday, not less than 40 days nor more <br />than 125 days after the certification of the election which resulted in the tie vote. <br />If a regular election is m be held throughout the City during the time period, the <br />special ran-off election must be consolidated with the regular election. <br /> <br /> <br />
