CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br />RESOLUTION NO. 00-031 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF LIVERMORE BART <br />EXTENSION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the extension of BART to Livermore is included within the Long Range Plans of <br />BART, Metropolitan Transportation Commission, Alameda County, Tri-Valley <br />and the City of Pleasanton; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, such an extension would help address a crucial regional transportation need in one <br /> of the Bay Area's most congested corridors; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is timely to close the gap between the ACE rail service over the Altamont Pass <br /> and the current BART Dublin/Pleasanton extension; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, transportation funding decisions are currently being evaluated at regional, state and <br /> federal levels; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />such an extension is needed no only to reduce congestion in the 1-580 Corridor, it <br />is needed to reduce the impact of BART on the current Dublin/Pleasanton end of <br />the line station, where BART ridership projections, and current parking impacts, <br />underscore the need for this extension. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: <br /> <br />The Pleasanton City Council supports the extension of BART service to <br />Livemore, and requests that the BART Board place this matter on its agenda for <br />discussion. <br /> <br />Section 2: This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br /> I HEREBY CERTIFY THAT THE FOREGOING WAS DULY AND <br />REGULARLY ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON, AT <br />A MEETING HELD ON APRIL 4, 2000 BY THE FOLLOWING VOTE: <br /> <br /> <br />
