4092 Walnut Drive
Pleasanton, CA 94566
December 12, 1974

~.~ Willia/a Edgar
City Manager,
City of Pleasanton

Dear Mr. Edgar:

This letter concerns a large Elm tree on my property which
t desire to have removed, but which, due to its size, may
be considered a "Heritage Tree."

The tree is an Elm, approximately 24-inches in diameter,
72-inches in circumference and about 40-feet high. Be-
cause of its condition and location, it is a hazard to per-
son and property. It is infested with "Borer Worms" and has
dry rot in many places in trunk and branches. It has a large
cavity in the trunk, about 15-feet above ground.

The tree is located at the rear of my house at 4092 Walnut
Drive. It is pressing against the roof of my garage and is
exactly 20-feet from the master bedroom at the rear of my
house. Because of its infested and weakened condition, I
believe the tree to be dangerous. A severe storm with
strong winds could cause the tree to break in the area of
the cavity, sending the upper part of the tree crashing
through the garage, or through the house roof over the master
bedroom. The manager of Alexander's Tree Service concurs
in this belief and recommends that for safety's sake, the
tree be removed.

Therefore, Mr. Edgar, will you please present this information
and my formal request to the City Council for their official
permission to remove the hazardous tree, at the e~rliest
practicable date.

Robert B.

Respectfully yours,

Ettenborough

car
