CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />COUNTY OF ALAMEDA <br />STATE OF CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 75-35 <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A K-9 UNIT <br /> WITH THE POLICE DIVISION OF THE PUBLIC SAFETY DEPARTMJENT <br /> <br />~HEREAS, on February 19, 1975, the acting Director of Public Safet~ <br /> by memorandum to the City Manager set forth a proposal <br /> for the establishment of a K-9 unit in the Police Divi- <br /> sion of the Department of Public Safety; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, said report indicated that the canine in question would <br /> be the responsibility of a single officer within the <br /> department; and <br /> <br />I~{EREAS upon termination of the usefulness of the animal, the <br /> <br /> officer who has worked with the animal should have an <br /> opportunity to acquire the same since it has become a <br /> family pet; and <br /> <br />~.rHEREAS it is desirable for an agreement to be entered into with <br /> Officer Jay Graves outlining the duties and responsibili-z <br /> ties related to this canine unit and affording Officer <br /> Graves the opportunity to acquire the dog with which he <br /> has trained upon termination of the animal's usefulness <br /> to the department; and <br /> <br />~EREAS said report and recommendations were presented to the <br /> City Council at its meeting of February 24, 1975; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASAi~!TON DOE~ <br /> RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> Section 1. The City Council authorizes the establishment of a <br /> K-9 Unit within the Police Division of the Department of <br /> <br /> Public Safety to be implemented in the 1975-76 budget. <br /> <br /> Section 2. Authorizes the City Manager to sign an agreement with <br /> Officer Jay Graves specifying the nature of the prograin <br /> and Officer Graves responsibilities with respect to the <br /> <br /> <br />
