CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />COUNTY OF ALAMEDA <br />STATE OF CALIFORNIA <br />RESOLUTION N0. 76-/+5 <br />SUPPORTING LEGISLATION FOR FUNDING OF THE BAY AREA <br />RAPID TRANSIT DISTRICT <br />REAS, the City of Pleasanton is located within the boundaries of <br />the San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit District; and <br />the City of Pleasanton, due to the absence of rail exten- <br />sions to the Livermore-Amador Valley, receives express <br />bus operations funded by BART which connect with the <br />Bay Area Rapid Transit District facilities in the Hayward <br />Area; and <br />REAS, the Bay Area Rapid Transit District Board of Directors <br />is seeking sufficient funding authorizations from the <br />State Legislature to fund both BART rail and express bus <br />operations; and <br />in the absence of such funding authorizations, it is the <br />declared policy of the Bay Area Rapid Transit District <br />Board as set forth in their resolution No. 2448 to pro- <br />portionately and uniformly decrease the level of services <br />and facilities throughout the district, both rail line <br />system and express bus system; and <br />the reduction or elimination of the express bus system to <br />the Livermore-Amador Valley by Bay Area Rapid Transit <br />District would have an adverse impact on the Livermore- <br />Amador Valley and the citizens of Pleasanton in that <br />citizens presently using the BART system would be forced <br />to use private automobiles with the resulting increase in <br />vehicle miles travelled and air pollutants in an already <br />overly polluted air system; <br />"'NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES <br />RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. Declares the support of the action undertaken by the <br />Bay Area Rapid Transit District Board to seek sufficient <br />funding authorizations from the State Legislature to fund <br />
