CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />COUNTY OF ALAMEDA <br />STATE OF CALIFORNIA <br />RESOLUTION N0. 76-82 <br />A RESOLUTION APPROVING AN AFFIRMATIVE ACTION PLAN FOR <br />THE CITY OF PLEA5ANTON <br />WHEREAS, in order to further the goal of equal opportunity in <br />employment, the Congress of the United States adopted, <br />in 1964, the Civil Rights Act; and <br />,WHEREAS, said Act together with subsequent legislation has re- <br />quired municipalities, like the City of Pleasanton, to <br />adopt and administer an Affirmative Action Plan in <br />order to insure greater access to job possibilities <br />by minority groups and female employees; and <br />WHEREAS, an Affirmative Action Plan is designed to set forth the <br />procedures, goals, and timetables by which an agency <br />pledges its good faith effort in order to increase the <br />utilization of minorities and females at all levels and <br />in all segments of its work force where utilization de- <br />ficiencies presently exist; and <br />WHEREAS, it has been determined that a utilization deficiency <br />exists when within a job classification the number of <br />minorities and females employed is less than the number <br />of minorities and females which can reasonably be ex- <br />pected to be available within the labor market of the <br />particular job classification; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Manager's office has caused an Affirmative <br />Action Plan to be prepared; and <br />WHEREAS, said proposed plan was presented to the City Council at <br />its meeting of April 12, 1976 for consideration; and <br />the City Council considered the report of the City <br />Manager, dated March 16, 1976, together with the pro- <br />posed Affirmative Action Plan which is attached to said <br />report. <br />-1- <br />
