CITY OF PLEASANT'.._a <br />COUNTY OF ALAMEDA <br />STATE OF CALIFORNIA <br />RESOLUTION NO. 76-176 <br />A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE RETENTION OF LOCAL <br />OPTIONS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF SUPERIOR WASTE <br />DISPOSAL SYSTEMS THAN THOSE CONTAINED IN THE <br />SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT PLAN FOR ALAMEDA COUNTY <br />WHEREAS, the City Council at its meeting of July 26, 1976 adopted <br />Resolution No. 76-175 (A Resolution Approving the Alameda <br />County Solid Waste Management Plan and Authorizing the <br />Execution of a Joint Powers Agreement to Implement said <br />Plan); and <br />WHEREAS, Paragraph VIII Cle(1) provides "Any jurisdiction which <br />can use and import garbage can develop a sophisticated <br />system for dealing with the problem and may proceed as <br />long as the system added is advanced or improved over <br />burial and is in conformance with the goals of the plan."; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council has been advised that a proposal has <br />been suggested to change the aforementioned paragraph to <br />subject the local option to adopt superior disposal <br />plans to prior approval by the directors of the County <br />Solid Waste Management Agency; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to take a position in opposition <br />to any changes which would subject the development of <br />local superior plans to prior joint powers approval. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES <br />RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. Supports the retention of Paragraph VIII Cle(1) of <br />the Solid Waste Management Plan for Alameda County as <br />approved by the City Council at its meeting of July 26, <br />1976, in its present form as more particularly set forth <br />in the second whereas, above. <br />Section 2. The City Clerk is directed to transmit a copy of this <br />resolution to the interim council on Solid Waste <br />Management for Alameda County and to the City Council <br />of the City of Alameda. <br />-1- <br />
