CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />COUNTY OF ALAMEDA <br />STATE OF CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 76-208 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A PROCEDURE FOR THE <br />DONATION OF BUS SHELTERS OR BENCHES <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton has received inquiries from <br /> businesses concerning the possibility of donating <br /> <br />benches or shelters at B.A.R.T. Express Bus Stops~ and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is desirable to establish a policy with respect to <br /> <br />the donation of such benches or shelters; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES <br />RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section t. Any person, group or business wishing to donate <br /> <br />either a bench or a shelter at bus stops within the <br /> <br />City of Pleasanton shall abide by the following procedure: <br /> <br />Location. The person or firm select which stop <br />they wish to place a bench or shelter. The site <br />must be one of those listed in the report of the <br />Assistant to the City Manager dated August 27, 1976 <br />relating to B.A.R.T. Express Bus Shelter and Benches. <br />If the site does not have room in the City right-of- <br />way to construct a shelter, and the person or firm <br />making the offer still wants to donate a shelter, <br />they must negotiate the right-of-way with the proper- <br />ty owner for any additional property required. The <br />specific site must be approved by the Community <br />Development Department. <br /> <br />Shelters. All shelters on the bus route will be of <br />the type provided by A. C. Transit. Therefore, <br />anyone wishing to donate a shelter would be required <br />to purchase the shelter and provide the slab. A <br />plaque would be place in the slab showing who had <br />donated the shelter, however, no other advertising <br />would be permitted. <br /> <br />Section 2. <br /> <br />Benches. All benches would be of a heavy construc- <br />tion that could be fastened securely to the side- <br />walk. A plaque (8" x 10") could be placed on the <br />back of the bench showing who had made the <br />donation, but no other advertising would be <br />permitted. <br /> <br />This resolution shall become effective immediately <br /> <br /> upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br />THIS RESOLUTION WAS ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> <br />-1- <br /> <br /> <br />
