CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />COUNTY OF ALAMEDA <br />STATE OF CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 76-250 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF APPLICATIONS <br />UNDER THE PUBLIC WORKS EMPLOYMENT ACT OF 1976 FOR <br />FOOTHILL RESERVOIR <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the United States Congress overruled the President's <br />veto of the Public Works Employment Act Of 1976 thus <br />freeing two billion dollars to be used in federally <br />funded programs for the purpose of providing employment <br />opportunities in areas of high unemployment; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />California's portion of these funds is expected to be <br />two hundred fifty million dollars which will be allocated <br />to projects that have the most merit toward meeting the <br />objects of the program; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the Director of Engineering Services prepared a report <br />dated November 3, 1976 to City Manager which indicated <br />possible public works' projects in the City of Pleasanton <br />which would qualify for funds under the Public Works <br />Employment Act of 1976 program; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />said report was submitted to the City Council at its <br />meeting of November 8, 1976 and considered by the Council <br />at said meeting; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES <br />RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. The City Council authorizes the Staff to prepare and <br /> file an application under the Public Works Employment <br /> Act of 1976 indicating that the second preferred project <br /> for funding under said Act is the Foothill Reservoir. <br /> <br />Section 2. This resolution shall become effective immediately <br /> upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br />THIS RESOLUTION ADOPTED ON NOVEMBER 8, 1976 BY THE FOLLOWING VOTE: <br /> <br />AYES- Councilmembers - Brandes H~ lihy LeClaire Mercer and <br /> <br /> ' i ' ' <br /> <br />City Attorney <br /> <br /> <br />
