CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />COUNTY OF ALAMEDA <br />STATE OF CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 76-249 <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING FILING OF APPLICATIONS UNDER THE <br /> PUBLIC WORKS EMPLOYMENT ACT OF 1976 FOR STORM DRAIN <br /> PROJECT IN OLD PLEASANTON AREA <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the United States Congress overruled the President's <br /> veto of the Public Works Employment Act of 1976 thus <br /> freeing two billion dollars to be usedin federally <br /> funded programs for the purpose of providing employment <br /> opportunities in areas of high unemployment; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, California's portion of these funds is expected to be <br /> two hundred fifty million dollars which will be allocated <br /> to projects that have the most merit toward meeting the <br /> objects of the program; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Director of Engineering Services prepared a report <br /> dated November 3, 1976 to City Manager which indicated <br /> possible public works' projects in the City Of Pleasanton <br /> which would qualify for funds under the Public Works <br /> Employment Act of 1976 program; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, said report was submitted to the City Council at its <br /> meeting of November 8, 1976 and considered by the Council <br /> at said meeting; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES <br />RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. The City Council authorizes the Staff to prepare and <br /> file an application under the Public Works Employment <br /> Act of 1976 for the establishment of a storm drain <br /> system for the Old Downtown Area generally bounded on <br /> the west by Pleasanton Avenue, on the north by the Arroyo <br /> Del Valle, on the east by the Southern Pacific Railroad <br /> tracks and on the south by Bernal Avenue. <br /> <br />-1- <br /> <br /> <br />
