CiTY OF PLEASANTON <br />COUNTY OF ALAMEDA <br />STATE OF CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />lIESOLUTION NO. 77-63 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION CALLING AN ELECTION TO BE HELD ON MAY 31, 1977 <br />FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING TO THE ELECTORATE A MEASURE <br />TO INCREASE THE ?ROPERTY TAX RATE FOR PURPOSES OF PROVIDING <br />ADDITIONAL ~ERSONNEL IN THE FIRE AND POLICE DIVISIONS OF <br />THE PUBLIC SAFEYY DEPARTMENT <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the Cit~7 Council is interested in providing additional <br />personnel in ~he police and fire divisions of the Public <br />Safety Department; and <br /> <br />at their meeting of February 14, 1977, the City Council <br />received a report of February 9, 1977 from the Assis~ant <br />to the City i~anager (Walker) indicating that a tax levy <br />of $.15 per $100 of assessed valuation would be Deccssar/ <br />to fund additional personnel in the police divi~il?n and <br />$.14 per $!00 of assessed valuation would be neceuLlrl~ <br />to fund additional personnel in the fire division ef ~jv~ <br />i~ublic Safety Department; and <br /> <br />the City Council at its meeting of February 28, 1977 cod <br />sidered a report from the City Attorney indicating <br />alternative measures which could be placed on the ~ay 31~ <br />1977 ballot; and <br /> <br />~,'HNRF ~S, <br /> <br />Revenue and Taxation Code Section 2201, et <br />restricts a general law city from increasing its <br />rate beyond the limits set forth in said <br />a vote of the electorate; and <br /> <br />U .1Uf. i~.EAS, <br /> <br />Elections Code Section 2504 establishes regular elect~:~ <br />dates for general law cities of which May 31, 1977 i:; <br />the appropriate mid-election date on which a tax measure <br />couZ':1 be placed; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFO~G, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES <br />RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS; <br /> <br />Section 1. A tax rate election is hereby called to be held in ezhe <br /> Cih'/~.
