CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br />ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 77-93 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING MAILED BALLOT PROCEDURE FOR <br />PUBLIC SAFETY TAX OVERRIDE MEASURE <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the City of Pleasanton will hold a special election on <br />May 31, 1977, regarding a tax override measure for funding <br />additional personnel in the police and fire services; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the duties of conducting the election fall to the <br />Assistant to the City Manager in his capacity as <br />Senior Deputy City Clerk; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the election falls at a time when the Assistant to the <br />City Manager will be engaged in lengthy labor negotiations; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />staff contacted the Registrar of Voters for Alameda County <br />and the Registrar of Voters for Monterey County to obtain <br />additional information on mailed ballot election procedures; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the mailed ballot election procedure would be less costly <br />to the City and should result in greater participation by <br />the electorate. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. Based on the cost savings to the City and the possi- <br /> bility of greater voter participation, Council approves <br /> the mailed ballot procedure for the May election and <br /> authorizes staff to work with the Registrar of Voters to <br /> effect the most efficient method of procedure of conducting <br /> the election. <br /> <br />Section 2.
