CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA RESOLUTION NO. 77-93 RESOLUTION APPROVING MAILED BALLOT PROCEDURE FOR PUBLIC SAFETY TAX OVERRIDE MEASURE WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton will hold a special election on May 31, 1977, regarding a tax override measure for funding additional personnel in the police and fire services; and WHEREAS, the duties of conducting the election fall to the Assistant to the City Manager in his capacity as Senior Deputy City Clerk; and WHEREAS, the election falls at a time when the Assistant to the City Manager will be engaged in lengthy labor negotiations; WHEREAS, staff contacted the Registrar of Voters for Alameda County and the Registrar of Voters for Monterey County to obtain additional information on mailed ballot election procedures; and WHEREAS, the mailed ballot election procedure would be less costly to the City and should result in greater participation by the electorate. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Based on the cost savings to the City and the possi- bility of greater voter participation, Council approves the mailed ballot procedure for the May election and authorizes staff to work with the Registrar of Voters to effect the most efficient method of procedure of conducting the election. Section 2. This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and adoption.
