WHEREAS,

WHEREAS,
WHEREAS,

CITY OF PLEASANTON
COUNTY OF ALAMEDA
STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION NO. 77-171

A RESOLUTION INDICATING THE CITY COUNCIL'S INTENTION
TO GRANT TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, TOP MANAGEMENT, MIDDLE
MANAGEMENT AND CONFIDENTIAL EMPLOYEES COMPENSATION
FOR FISCAL YEAR 1977-78, RETROACTIVE TO JULY 1, 1977

the City Attorney, top management, middle management and con-
fidential employees are not represented by the recognized bar-
gaining groups within the City of Pleasanton; and

said employees' new salaries would normally begin for Fiscal
Year 1977-78 on July 1, 1977; and

the City is still in negotiations with the various employee
bargaining groups regarding benefits to be given to the em-
ployees represented by said organizations; and

WHEREAS,

the City Council would prefer to establish all salaries at
one time but wishes to indicate its intent to grant retro-
active increases to the City Attorney, top management, mid-
dle management and confidential employees as of July 1, 1977.

NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES RE-
SOLVE AS FOLLOWS:

Section

1. The City Attorney, top management, middle management and
confidential employees will receive compensation for Fiscal
Year 1977-78 as of July 1, 1977, even though the amount of
said compensation is determined subsequent to July 1, 1977.
It is the City Council's intention that these employees
would have received said compensation as of July 1, 1977 but
for continuing negotiations with other employee groups and
the Council's desire to establish salaries at one time. The
City Council does not wish to penalize the City Attorney,
top mangement, middle management and confidential employees
from receiving benefits due to lack of agreement with other
employee organizations and thus sets forth its intention to
grant retroactive pay for the aforementioned employees when
the same is determined as of July 1, 1977.

Section 2. This resolution shall become effective immediately upon
its passage and adoption.

THIS RESOLUTION ADOPTED ON JUNE 27, 1977 BY THE FOLLOWING VOTE:

AYES: Councilmembers - Brandes, LeClaire, Mercer and Mayor Philcox

NOES: None
