OF PLEASANTON STAFF REPORT November 18, 1977 HONORABLE CITY COUNCIL Pleasanton, California Proposed Changes to Permitted and Conditional Uses in Commercial Districts Members of the Council: As a result of the rezoning of the property located at the south- west corner of the intersection of Main Street and Bernal Avenue your Council asked that the uses in the C-C (Central Commercial) District be studied. In analyzing the potential changes to the allowed and conditionally allowed uses in the C-C district, the staff realized that certain changes should also be made to the ot~er five commercial zoning districts in the City. Attached hereto is a draft study proposing changes to Pleasanton's com- mercial districts. Since these changes are numerous, the staff will not try to describe each one of them, but instead we would ask you to carefully examine the list and note those with which you disagree or have questions. The current list of allowed and conditionally allowed-uses is attached hereto so that your Council can make comparisons. We will be prepared to present our reasons for the.recommended changes at your meeting of November 29, 1977. The main basis for the uses as proposed, are the Special Purposes of the commercial districts as set forth in Sections 2-7.01 to 2-7.06 of the Ordinance Code. Staff Recommendation: Realizing that you may not agree with all of the changes as proposed, the staff recommends that you initiate a zoning code amendment to Section 2-7.08a (Permitted and Con- ditional Uses) of Article 8 (Commercial Districts). In this manner the case will go to the Planning Commission for public hearing at which time they may recommend further changes.
