Section 6. Hours of Work, Shift & Station Assignments <br /> <br />6.1 Work Schedule <br /> <br />The work schedule shall consist of nine (9) twenty-four (24) <br />hour on-duty periods within a twenty-seven (27) day cycle <br />to be worked in accordance with the following chart: <br /> <br />X = 24 hour on-duty period <br />O = 24 hour off-duty period <br /> <br />XOXOXOOOOXOXOXOOOOXOXOXOOOO <br /> <br />6.2 <br /> <br />Exchanges of On-Duty Time <br /> <br />Exchanges of on-duty time shall be permitted between <br />employees of the same rank. Exchanges of on-duty time <br />shall not be granted in cases that result in financial <br />liability to the City. Requests for exchanges of <br />on-duty time shall be submitted on the proper form to <br />employee's immediate supervisor and shall include both <br />signatures of the people involved and their immediate <br />supervisor. There shall be no limit to the number of <br />exchanges per month. The employees involved in the <br />exchange shall make arrangements for the pay back of <br />time. <br /> <br />6.3 <br /> <br />Shift and Station Assignments <br /> <br />Shift and station openings and assignments shall be <br />filled on the basis of seniority. Said openings and <br />assignments shall be posted on all station bulletin <br />boards and be open for bid to the entire department. <br /> <br />Normal station rotation shall be once per year. <br />Lieutenants will rotate from station #1 to station #2 <br />to station #3, in that sequence unless mutually agreed <br />upon. Firefighter rotation will be from station #1 <br />to station #2 or to station #3 unless mutually agreed <br />upon. Firefighters will not be excluded from normal <br />rotation for more than two (2) years unless mutually <br />agreed upon. New employees shall be assigned to <br />station #1 and fall into rotation after completion of <br />their probationary period. <br /> <br />Mutuals are agreements between employees of the same <br />rank to change shifts and station assignments. Mutuals <br />shall be considered trades between the employees involved. <br />There shall be no limit on the number of mutuals except <br />that if an employee through mutuals remains at the <br />same station for more than two (2) years the Fire Chief <br />may temporarily transfer the employee for the purposes <br />of training to another station for a period not to <br />exceed ten (10) shifts. <br /> <br />Section 7. Overtime <br /> <br />Employees who are required to work after completion of <br />their regular shift or are required to work to fill a <br />shift outside his/her regular duty shift shall be entitled <br />to overtime compensation for all hours so worked; provided, <br />however, that the overtime rate shall be computed at one <br />and one-half (1-1/2) times the employee's regular rate of <br />pay in thirty (30) minute increments as follows: <br /> <br />-6- <br /> <br /> <br />
