WHEREAS , <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br />ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 79-159 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION MAKING APPLICATION TO ALAMEDA COUNTY <br />LOCAL AGENCY FORMATION COMMISSION REQUE~TiNG INITIATION <br />OF PROCEEDINGS FOR PROPOSED ANNEXATION NO. 77 PURSUANT <br />TO THE MUNICIPAL ORGANIZATION ACT OF 1977. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />pursuant to the Municipal Organization Act of 1977, <br />beginning with Section 35000 of the Government Code, an <br />affected city, as therein defined, may by resolution <br />adopted by its legislative body, make a proposal for an <br />"Annexation and Detachments" and request initiation of <br />proceedings thereon; and <br /> <br />the City of Pleasanton is an "affected city" for an <br />annexation proposal which contains territory proposed <br />to be annexed as part of said City. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES <br />RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. This City Council, as the legislative body of an affected <br /> city, does hereby make a proposal for annexation of the area <br /> known as Annexation 77 pursuant to the Municipal Organization <br /> Act of 1977 and does hereby request proceedings pursuant to <br /> such act. <br /> <br />Section 2. The annexation shall consist of the following change <br /> in organization: <br /> <br />That 34.63 acres, more or less, area adjacent <br />to the City limits between the end of Arlington <br />Drive, and Happy Valley Road, shall be changed <br />from unincorporated Alameda County lands to land <br />within the City of Pleasanton. <br /> <br />Said territory is found to be uninhabited and is more <br />specifically described in Exhibit "A", attached hereto <br />and incorporated herein. <br /> <br />Section 3. This City Council does hereby declare that its <br /> reasons for proposing this annexation are: <br /> <br />Annexation and the subsequent development of this <br />property would make available a substantial number of <br />large lot home sites. Both the City Council and <br />Planning Commission have discussed a potential need <br />for large lot subdivisions in the City. The property <br />is also a part of the larger territory which should <br />ultimately be included in the City. <br /> <br /> <br />
