CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br />ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 79-259 <br /> <br />APPROVING EMPLOYMENT OF OUTSIDE LEGAL COUNSEL WITH <br />REGARD TO THE FEDERAL CORRECTIONAL FACILITY <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />at the Council meeting of December 11, 1979, a question <br />arose as to whether the Federal Correctional Facility at <br />Pleasanton had received the proper environmental impact <br />reviews and whether it had complied with other federal <br />guidelines; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the City Attorney was requested to look into the possibility <br />of hiring outside legal counsel to prepare for the City <br />Council an analysis of the legality of the procedures in- <br />volved in the development and use of the Federal Correctional <br />Facility; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the City Attorney had submitted staff report No. SR79:324, <br />dated December 18, 1979, indicating that the cost of hiring <br />outside counsel would be between $500 and $1,000; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. Authorizes the City Manager to enter into a contract <br /> with outside legal counsel for an amount not to exceed <br /> $1,000 to investigate and give an opinion on the Federal <br /> Correctional Facility environmental impact procedures and <br /> compliance with other federal regulations. <br /> <br />Section 2. This resolution shall be effective immediately. <br /> <br />THIS RESOLUTION ADOPTED DECEMBER 18, 1979, BY THE FOLLOWING VOTE: <br /> <br />AYES: Councilmembers Butler, Kephart, Mercer, Wood and Mayor Brandes <br /> <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None ~ ~~o <br />ATTEST: ~ ~ <br /> <br /> on E. y Clerk~ <br />Doris George, Deputy City Clerk <br /> <br />APPROVED AS TO FORM: <br /> <br />i City Attorney <br /> <br /> <br />
