CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br />ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 79-247 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A PRO RATA CHARGE FOR EACH <br />CANDIDATE FOR THE APRIL 8, 1980, MUNICIPAL ELECTION <br /> <br />WHEREAS , <br /> <br />§10012 of the Elections Code authorizes the City Council to <br />establish certain charges for handling candidate election <br />materials; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the City Council at its meeting of December 11, 1979, <br />considered the options available under the above mentioned <br />section for increasing the length of the candidate's state- <br />ment, billing candidates the pro rata cost of printing and <br />mailing to voters the candidate's statements and setting <br />rules and regulations for additional materials; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. The candidate's statement shall not exceed 200 words and <br /> shall be translated into Spanish. <br /> <br />Section 2. Each candidate desiring a candidate's statement shall be <br /> billed by the City Clerk a pro rated amount for the costs <br /> of printing, handling and translating the candidate's state- <br /> ment into Spanish. <br /> <br />Section 3. No materials other than the voter's pamphlet and sample <br /> ballot shall be transmitted by the City Clerk to the voters. <br /> If a candidate wishes to send additional materials to the <br /> voters, it will have to be at the candidate's expense and <br /> by persons other than the City. <br /> <br />Section 4.
