WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the people of the City of Pleasanton on April 8, 1980, <br />adopted a measure directing the City to take all appro- <br />priate steps to cause the State of California to remove <br />the restrictions on the traffic lanes on 1-580, including <br />elimination of the diamond lanes, by a vote of 4,530 in <br />favor and 643 opposed to the measure; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. The City Council reaffirms its~osition that full use <br /> of the eight lanes west of the City of Pleasanton would <br /> be most beneficial to the residents of the Livermore/ <br /> Amador Valley and individuals using 1-580o <br /> <br />Section 2. The City Council urges the preparation of a new updated <br /> Environmental Impact Statement covering the widening of <br /> 1-580 between the City of Pleasanton and Castro Valley, <br /> studying in particular the areas of growth-induced impacts <br /> on air quality standards and energy use. <br /> <br />Section 3. The City Council urges the United States Government to <br /> commence the preparation of said Environmental Impact <br /> Statement as soon as possible. <br /> <br />Section 4.
