CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br />ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 80-234 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION REGARDING PARTICIPATION IN THE SISTER <br />CITY PROGRAM <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Councilmember Mercer proposed that the City of Pleasanton <br /> become involved in a sister city program; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />Council reviewed a report by the Assistant to the <br />City Manager dated September 10, 1980 outlining the <br />background of the program, steps to implement the <br />program, possible projects with the sister city, <br />and costs and financing involved; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Council received input from a member of the community <br /> strongly interested in sister city participation. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> · . ~ <br />Section 1: It'Is reso!Lv~d~*that the City of Pleasanton and the <br /> City of~Li~e~more shall investigate joint participation <br /> in the Sister City Program and shall contact the Town <br /> Affiliation Association for further information regarding <br /> the town of Yotsukaida, Japan. <br /> <br />Section 2: Should there be enough interest generated by the <br /> citizens of Pleasanton in the future, the Council will <br /> investigate the affiliation with a sister city on its <br /> own behalf. <br /> <br />Section 3: This resolution shall become effective immediately <br /> upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br />THIS RESOLUTION ADOPTED ON SEPTEMBER 16, 1980 BY TI!E FOLLOWING VOTE: <br /> <br />AYES: Councilmembers - Butler, Kephart, Mohr and Mayor Mercer <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilmember Wood ~~ <br /> Walker, C~tyC~erk' ~ <br />By Doris George, Deputy City Clerk <br /> <br />APPROVED AS TO FORM: <br /> <br />· City Attorney <br /> <br /> <br />
