CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br />ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 80-221 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION REQUESTING SPECIFIC ACTION REGARDING <br />TRAFFIC ON FOOTHILL ROAD <br /> <br />~rHEREAS, <br /> <br />the City CoUncilrequested a study of Foothill Road <br />from the intersection of 1-580 to south of Castlewood <br />Drive including areas in the city and the county, with <br />particular attention to possible problems relating to <br />roadside obstacles; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />an inter-agency meeting was held August 4, 1980 which <br />was attended by representatives of the City of Pleasanton, <br />California Highway Patrol and Alameda County and the <br />conditions, traffic and accident history of Foothill <br />Road were discussed; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the Director of Engineering Services has prepared a <br />detailed staff report dated August 21, 1980 requesting <br />the Council to take certain action. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: The City Council shall request the California Highway <br /> Patrol to review the request of the City to lower the <br /> posted speed limit on Foothill Road. <br /> <br />Section 2: The Pleasanton Police Department is authorized to <br /> continue the additional enforcement on Foothill Road <br /> and to increase enforcement at times of night high <br /> school activities. <br /> <br />Section 3: The Pleasanton Street Department shall install, mark, <br /> or trim within the City areas, the signs and reflective <br /> markers which are missing or need to be added, the white <br /> edge stripes which need to be renewed, and the trees and <br /> shrubs which may be obscuring the signs or sight clearance <br /> along Foothill. <br /> <br />Section 4: The City Council shall request the County Road Depart- <br /> ment to perform the same items of work within the County <br /> areas which the City forces will do within the City areas. <br /> <br />Section 5: The Engineering staff will analyze the State-Wide <br /> Integrated Traffic Envorcement Records System (S.W.I.T.E.RS.) <br /> data and will act upon the information generated. <br /> <br />Section 6: That letters be sent to the judges handling speeding <br /> violations asking them to assist the City by applying <br /> more severe penalties to those cited for speeding on <br /> Foothill Road; and to write a letter to the Board of <br /> Supervisors asking their assistance in the improvement <br /> of Foothill Road. <br /> <br /> <br />
