CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br />ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 81-128 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION DESIGNATING MAY 3-9, 1981 AS "HIRE <br />A VETERAN WEEK" <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />Mayor Kenneth R. Mercer has received correspondence <br />from the Employment Development Department of the <br />State of California illustrating the State's efforts <br />in encouraging employers to hire former service <br />personnel; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />as part of those efforts, the week of May 3-9, 1981 <br />has been established as "Hire a Veteran Week" to <br />bring attention to the efforts to assist veterans in <br />obtaining employment. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: The City Council of the City of Pleasanton joins with <br /> other public officials in the State in proclaiming the <br /> week of May 3-9, 1981 as California "Hire a Veteran" <br /> Week, and calls upon all citizens, especially employers, <br /> to assist and cooperate in developing job opportunities <br /> for our veterans. <br /> <br />Section 2: This resolution shall become effective immediately <br /> upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br />THIS RESOLUTION ADOPTED APRIL 28, 1981 BY THE FOLLOWING VOTE: <br /> <br />AYES: Councilmembers - Butler, Kephart, Mohr, Wood and Mayor <br /> Mercer <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None [~R/C~R,~~yOR <br />By Doris George~ Deputy City Clerk <br /> <br />APPROVED AS TO FOP~: <br /> <br /> <br />
