DA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 81-178 <br /> <br />COMMENDATION TO DR. REED BUFFINGTON UPON HIS <br />RETIREMENT AS PRESIDENT OF CHABOT COLLEGE <br /> <br />Dr. Reed Burlington has contributed twenty years of dynamic and note- <br />worthy service as Superintendent/President of Chabot College beginning <br />in 1961 with an enrollment of 1000 students to the current day enroll- <br />ment of over i8,000 students; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS <br /> <br />Dr. Buffington was extremely instrumental in the development of the <br />Valley Campus to help meet the needs of residents in the Amador-Livermore <br />Valley with their educational pursuits; and <br /> <br />the City of Pleasanton has enjoyed the good fortune of sharing and <br />participating in many programs under the auspices of both the City and <br />College which have benefited a diverse segment of the valley popula- <br />tion. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />The City of Pleasanton commends with the highest of praise Dr. <br />Reed Buffington for his profound vision and his extraordinary <br />accomplishments while at the helm of our most distinguished <br />community college. <br /> <br />Kenneth R.
